$8.6m for Hollywood legends home

The home of celebrated British/American movie legend Elizabeth Taylor has been put on the market with a guide price $8.6m.

The iconic big screen star lived in the massive Bel-Air mansion for more than thirty years before she passed away, aged 79 on March 24, in hospital suffering from congestive heart failure, a condition she had endured for the last seven years.

The magnificent property covers approximately 1.27 acres and the beautifully tended grounds include a stunning English rose garden, considered to be a favourite area of Dame Elizabeth, plus a mosaic pool and spa, koi pond with waterfall and orchid hothouse.

The USA real estate agent handling the sale describes the property as a 1960's ranch home with views across Los Angeles. The 7,000 square foot residence with room to accommodate a large family also includes staff quarters. A private driveway with security gate leads to the impressive entrance.
