An upward approach goes down well in Spain
As the flagging Spanish property market is being lead around by euro issues, a faultering economy, & the damage created by corrupt officials of the recent past, the incumbent government would do well to learn from one of its own city mayors. The mayor of Marbella, Angeles Munoz, is striving to reinvigorate the fortunes of the city by encouraging local businesses & developers to work with and entice foreign investors in setting up companies & employment opportunities.
It’s an approach that has worked well for the city in the past, to promote the location as a European city not just a Spanish holiday hotspot. The city’s previous introspective view has seen certain businesses dominate in Marbella, and the issue of illegally built homes has been tackled head on with the new urban plan which has legalised around 17000 homes which would have fallen foul.
Property sales in Spain have been slowly improving recently, but recent concerns over Greece’s economy is in danger of dragging Spain into the issue. An optimistic & a proactive approach is just what the country needs.
