Bulgaria’s capital still king of the hill
With still small tremors to be felt within the markets, potential investors of real estate in Bulgaria are opting for a degree of flexibility by renting before buying. It’s a popular choice these days and allows would-be buyers the option to try the market before committing to it. Interest in rental property in Sofia is on the increase and despite the city’s issues over space and traffic, it still remains a leading destination for a growing hoard of expats.
Locations within Sofia, such as Doctors’ Garden, attract the greatest interest, especially with those new to the region. However, availability is scarce driving up rents and exclusivity. Agents are actively highlighting the charms of districts and villages, such as Vitosha and Boyana which still allow for a good location but with a slightly slower and more spacious lifestyle.
Sofia’s popularity is only tarnished by the remnants of an underdeveloped infrastructure from its recent past but government incentives for road building and the influx of international retailers is ensuring the capital grows on the global stage.
