Most expensive property in Germany

In most countries across the world the priciest properties tend to be in capital cities but that is not the case for German property.
According to data from a leading real estate agent the most expensive properties are located on Sylt – the biggest of Germany’s North Sea Islands. A property on the wind swept isle runs into millions of euros and has been popular with the super wealthy classes for many years.
Sylt is renowned for its sandy beach and luxury dwellings across the island are in high demand – but dwellings can cost up to E35,000 per square metre so only the very rich are in with a chance of securing a property in this location.
In comparison a newly built apartment in the centre of Berlin is likely to fetch E15,000 per square metre a price that has trebled over the last few years.
German property prices have steadily increased in several other locations around the country –generally in what are considered holiday hot spots such as the area surrounding the English Garden in Munich and on the banks of Alster Lake in Hamburg.
