Parent pay more for UK property
Education is top on the list of priorities for most parents when planning their children's futures so it comes as no surprise to learn that homes close to top performing schools sell for more tan 15% above average in that area.
Information from property agents Savills shows UK homes within the catchment area of 'good' schools can add thousands of pounds to the asking price, up to 70% in some areas. At the opposite end of the table prices close to schools at the bottom end of the performance scale can be 10% less than the county average.
The research shows property prices have fallen during the global economic downturn but residential properties close to top performing schools, both state and independent, have taken less of a fall.
One area where price difference really shows is Altrincham, considered top of the so-called educational super suburbs, prices there are more than double the average in Greater Manchester.
