is very popular with travellers, according to a sector expert.
According to Midlands Co-op Travel, there has been an increase in the number of people enquiring about staying in property in Bulgaria, with the majority being converted into bookings.
A spokeswoman for the company, which offers overseas activities such as skiing, city breaks and cruises from over 100 different branches, says the lure of better exchange rates may be increasing the attractiveness of staying in property in Bulgaria.
"We have seen an increase in interest in non-euro destinations like Bulgaria," she explains.
The popularity of travelling to accommodation outside of Europe may continue to increase as long as exchange rates remain at current levels, the expert states.
According to online industry specialist Skyscanner, the popularity of long-haul destinations and travel to non-euro accommodation, such as property in Bulgaria, continues to increase as the economic downturn continues.
