The value of Internet sales to households soared 68 percent last year compared with the year before, official statistics have revealed in the latest e-commerce survey.
Mounted by the UK Office for National Statistics the survey said that online sales to households rose to £18.1 billion last year from £10.8 billion in 2003.
The total value of Internet sales by businesses, which includes business-to-business trade, jumped 81 percent to £71.1 billion from £39.3 billion the year before.
"The results of the 2004 survey show growth in the use of Information and communication technologies and large increases in the value of trade over the Internet," the ONS said. The survey covered 12,000 non-financial firms. |
