Traditionally, Ireland saw considerable net emigration to other English-speaking countries since opportunites at home were limited in what had been an un-sophisticated agricultural economy. In recent years, however, there has been a transformation. Ireland is now seeing a net immigration, in particular of young professional people of Irish decent. A steady stream of fairly affluent first time buyers have moved to Ireland and this has under-pinned the property market.
There are no non-status/self certification mortgages available in Ireland.
To obtain an Irish mortgage you will need, as a minimum requirement, proof of income when you make your application.
For the purposes pf obtaining a mortgage the definition of 'income' generally comprises earned income, pension, rental income and investment income. |
